Southern Illinois' Boemer wins Rimington Award

01/31/2012 - New York, NY (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Southern Illinois senior Bryan Boemer was named on Tuesday as the 2011 recipient of the Rimington Award, given to the top center in the FCS.

Boemer earned All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors for the third time this past season, posting a 93 percent blocking percentage while not allowing a sack. The 6-foot-2, 317-pounder from St. Louis led an offensive line that averaged 183 rushing yards per game.

He was named one of the FCS' top 10 offensive linemen by The Sportsbook Betting Lines last year.

The Rimington Award, named for former Nebraska All-America Dave Rimington, is given to the top center at different levels of college football. Other winners were Michigan's David Molk (FBS), Abilene Christian's Matt Webber (Division II), Mount Union's Brett Ekkens (Division III) and Georgetown College's Kyle Pettit (NAIA).

Brandon Roy Favorite to Win 2007 NBA Rookie of the Year

Adam Morrison, of the Charlotte Bobcats, was the favorite early on in the season after averaging 15+ PPG through the first month of the season. Ever since his torrid start, Morrison’s point production has declined each month. This really isn’t surprising, considering at 6’8” he only weighs 205 lbs. Obviously he will need to hit the weights big time during the off-season in order to keep from breaking down in the future.
